my day

what a day---poor laken had 2 horrible nosebleeds today--the first one we were driving to the mall and he sneezed--and blood literally seemed like it was gushing out of his nose--I was driving so dan jumped in the backseat and applied pressure as well as a 2 year old would allow for--it lasted about 10-15 minutes.
the second nosebleed happened at the park. this one was much more severe and laken refused to hold still for me to hold my quiznos napkins to his nose. by the end of his nosebleed we were both covered in blood and it seriously looked and felt like I was trying to kill the poor little guy. I am not sure what is going on with him. I was told to put vasoline in the nostril and tell him not to pick his nose by the advice nurse at the pediatric clinic--GOOD LUCK TO ME

today was also my first day of microbiology--the first hour consisted of bunsen burners, transferring e coli and other strange sounding microbes into different mediums with aprons and safety goggles on--I seriously felt like I was on a different planet and wasn't quite getting what was going on. we didn't have enough time to finish our labs before lecture was going to start. I am going to need to do some serious study time with this class--the instructor is recommending 3 hours of studying to one hour of classroom lecture--so 6 hours a week. I want to do well but 6 hours??????
that was my day in a nutshell except for the fact I also worked out for over an hour when I got home from school. dan waited for me--what could i say??

gemma trying to get cell phone coverage in the dunes--wth?

oregon coast

the coast was amazing and beautiful--it was cold and windy when we first arrived but that didn't stop the kids from racing there right away. within ten minutes laken had fallen into the ocean and was officially freaked out.

excuse the dirt on the lens--I need to take better care of my camera and equipment... we spend a majority of monday at the hotel's pool and hot tub trying to warm up after our ocean excursion.

we went to a local pizza parlor for dinner --cheese pizza, pepsi, and ice cream cones.

gemma babysit for a few hours while dan and I went to a nice restaurant at the hotel overlooking the ocean. we had yummy calamari, bleu cheese and pear salads, and steak. I never sleep good when I am away from my own bed. Laken decided he wanted to have one of his body parts on me at all time while sleeping.

tuesday at the beach was gorgeous--we flew a kite and played in the sand for hours

leaving tomorrow

dan and I have debated taking the kids somewhere "special" over spring break--we considered reno--cheap hotel but a 6 hour drive--ughhh
the coast is close but the weather is supposed to be cloudy and rainy... what the heck.. the coast it is
we are leaving tomorrow and spending one night in bandon.
I am so thrilled--I mean we live 2 hours away from the pacific ocean and we see it maybe 1-2 times a year--something is definitely wrong with that.
our dvd player in the truck is on the fritz--how will we ever make it? sickening how spoiled I have become --not to mention the kids --watching movies while we drive.

everything is blooming here--spring is in the air

Laken loves the new park they recently completed in Central Point--he always wants to go to the park with the "bumpy slide"
I was lighting my grill yesterday and it exploded in my face--I singed all of the hair on my left arm and some of the hair on my head. Laken was standing beside me and immediately ran for cover--poor little guy

here is my arm:

We painted an accent wall in our living room--I decided to let sadie and laken get involved--let it be a family activity. Laken had a difficult time understanding that the paint needed to stay on the wall and not on him

needless to say we got paint everywhere but I think it is good to do things like this together....

rollerskating

sadie and I went rollerskating today--it was sadie's second time at an actual skating rink--we started with the skates that are locked so she could just get around and then switched to the ones that rolled midway through. she did really well and absolutely loved it. I brought my roller blades but switched to skates--I am still not used to my roller blades
My sister and I grew up wearing roller skates tho so after a couple times around it felt like second nature--I skated for around 2 hours--didn't realize what a workout it truly is.

there were a few older people at the rink that looked like professionals I tell ya--skating backward and doing jumps--super fascinating to watch
I have had an excellent week staying home with the kids--I have met more people this week through time at the park and being out with the kids then the entire time I have lived in central point. I really thought I would miss working--just the feeling of contributing financially to the expenses and feeling worthwhile--nope haven't missed working--just the money.
I actually went to an outing at a ladies house friday night where we had dinner and played "bonkers"--something I haven't done in at least a year--it feels good to be at home--really good.

I am trying to think of ways to make a little extra money--I have been trying to get to everyone with my jewelry catalog and make a few connections there--it seems like every other person in town sells cookie lee--wth??

dan has been super supportive--he really likes that I am home sharing the responsibilities of the household and making dinner every night:)

the weather has been really nice--until the past few days--it was almost 70 on friday--I got overzealous and bought flowers to plant--my husband thinks I am crazy--what is new?

I had a really rough week. I became an unemployed statistic as of last wednesday. I really had no clue that things had gotten that bad at work where they actually would lay people off. It is a pediatric clinic for petes sake--sick kids are a guarantee!!
so I walked into work on wednesday and noticed another coworker of mine was crying--I thought to myself--hmm wonder what is going on with her. I asked another coworker and she stated that the coworker crying had been laid off. before I had time to digest this--I was called into one of the doctor's offices by the office manager where 2 doctors stood with my severance check informing me it was nothing I had done just economics.
Everything happens for a reason right? this would be a great time to pack things up and move to bend but now we can't get a loan for a house because I am unemployed. and if we move--can we really afford to keep our house in bend. these are things dan and I need to think throught before we make any decisions. I applied for unemployment, am trying to get organized at home--things that a full-time job didn't allowe me time for--cleaning out drawers, cupboards, deep cleaning. and last of all I am going to enjoy time with my babies.

I can rarely get my kids to make normal faces these days--they are all about "funny" faces
